Summer 2015 Essentials

Hey guys! I'm glad I'm getting back into blogging more often. I feel terrible for being so unreliable with my posts. But I think I'm going to be able to post at least once a week now!

Anyways lets get into the good stuff, my Summer 2015 Essentials!

1. Cucumber Melon 24 Hour Moisture Ultra Shea Body Cream (Bath and BodyWorks)

With hot weather comes shorts, and with shorts comes shaving your legs. Having an excellent body cream is a must for me. This one for B&BW is my winner, plus this throwback scent is just a classic.

2. Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen (Neutrogena

Protecting your skin from the sun's harsh rays is incredibly important and it's a crucial must have for me to have an amazing sunscreen. This one by Neutrogena fits the bill, it's light-weight and drys almost instantly.

3. Ribbon Hair Ties (Sephora

During the summer I constantly am pulling my hair up to cool off. But over the years I've found myself damaging my hair from all the elastic hair bands I was using. When my best friend introduced me to ribbon hair ties it was a hair, game changer. I'm never going back to hair elastics again!

4. Tropical Coconut + Orchid Body Mist (be

Every summer I HAVE to have a signature scent. I don't know why, but it's a must for me. This year my choice is this delicious coconut orchid scent that makes me feel like I'm on a beach in Jamaica every time I have it on.

5. Baby Lips SPF 20 Lip Balm (Maybelline New York)

Okay so this is more like a life essential, but I had to put it on my summer list. I use this stuff daily. It moisturizes your lips and protects them from the sun. What more could you ask for?

6. BB Beauty Balm (NYX

So you all know my obsession with NYX right? So there's no surprise here that I have a NYX product in my summer essentials. This stuff is perfect for summer. If I had amazing skin I wouldn't use anything but sunscreen on my face, but unfortunately my bare face has some acne and is uneven. This stuff is perfect, because it's not as thick and heavy feeling as foundation, but it still gives me enough coverage for a summer day.

7. Sunglasses (Ray-Bans)

Sunglasses are like tied with sunscreen for an absolute summer MUST HAVE. These babes are new. I'm obsessed with them. What more can I say stylish, and protecting my eyes from that oh-so-harmful sun!

8. E-Reader (Kobo Glo)

I love reading, and summer is when I get most of it done. My Kobo is by my side constantly all summer allowing me to read as many books as I want at my pleasure. I especially love the Glo because it has a built-in-light for late night reading.

The Little Things

Hey guys, today I want to write something a little bit different. I've recently have been trying to do simple little things to change my daily routine. I used to be a really lazy person. On days I wasn't working or at school I'd sleep in till noon, eat crappy food, and my room was a mess. I was also struggling with my anxiety.

Anxiety is something that I've dealt with most of my life. I worry about everything. I'm that person who can't remember if they turned off their straightener or locked their front door. I can't even count how many times I've driven back home to check. It's a part of my life and it's something that is normal to me.

But a few months ago I hit a real low point with my anxiety. I couldn't function normally. Everything from brushing my teeth to my school work was causing an excessive amount of stress for me. It started to get to me physically. I would come home from school completely exhausted. I'd fall asleep and sometimes sleep right until the next morning. Things took a turn for the worst when I was diagnosed with daily chronic migraines. They would take over my life. I couldn't think properly and they were constantly on my mind, literally. Things were hard and I had a difficult time finishing off this year of school.

When school finished I decided it was time to change my ways. I started to eat a bit better, I got a gym membership, and I'm taking care of my room. But most importantly myself. Everyday I think of two things that I'm proud of myself for and two things I'm thankful for. It's these little things that have started to make a huge difference. I've stopped with my daily headaches and I'm feeling a lot better. I'm enjoying my life and every single day.

Where have I been?

Hello! Did you miss me? I can not believe the last time I posted was October 11, 2014. That's terrible, I feel terrible, ya'll probably thought I forgot about you and this blog. Trust me I didn't, I just honestly had not time what to post. So were have I been?

Well let's see, I recently just started my third year of college in communications and I have been swamped with assignments galore. I'm not even kidding when it's normal for me to have about eight assignments due all in one week. It's honestly crazy. But, I love it. I'm finally feeling like I'm getting somewhere and starting to work towards a fantastic career.

That being said I have a lot of exciting things planned for Dream in Style, and I hope I can just find the time for getting it done. I have so many products, fashion tips, and DIYs to show you can't wait till the next post.

Take it easy and don't fret I'll be back soon!

Fall Fashion: Day & Night

Hey Hey Hey Dreamers! Wow it's been over a month since I've last posted.... crazzzzyy. Okay guy so I come with a new post for you all. It's a fall fashion one! I'm so excited to show you what I've come up with. I have two of my favorite fall looks for you today, a casual and cute daytime look and a sexy and fun nighttime look. I hope you all like it!

Daytime: Alright, so for this adorable day time fall look this is what I've done. I took a black basic knit three-quarter-length sweater, paired it with navy denim jeans, and tan/brown Chelsea boots for the foundation of the outfit. To accessorize I added a knit khaki green tube scarf, a knit black hat, a tan/brown small bag, and two cute gold bracelets. Together this outfit is perfect for a date at the park, a day at school, or just a day out and about on the town. Hope you love it!

Nighttime: For this super hot night look this is what I did. I started off with a basic emerald green tee-shirt dress, added a black leather jacket, and black and gold booties. To accessorize I added polk-a-dot stockings, a black and gold statement necklace, and a wristlet (who wants to carry around a huge purse on a night out?) All together this makes for the perfect fall night out look. Great for a date, a girls night out, or a fun party look. Enjoy!

Product Versus Review: High End Foundations

Happy September folks! Summer has come and gone and it's time to get back into the everyday routine of life. To kick off this Labour day I wanted to bring you guys a new post. I was originally going to a monthly favorites but to be honest I didn't have enough products this month that were new and I was really loving, to make a post about. So instead today I'm going to bring you a foundation vs and review. If you are reading this then you're mostly likely a makeup wearer or a fan of makeup and understand that having a really good foundation is key to creating any makeup look. Although there are many drugstore foundations out there that give good coverage I always seem to find they make my skin break out more than if I were to use a higher end product. That being said buying a high end foundation comes with high end prices that's why I want to give you a breakdown of my two favorite foundation so you can see which one is better bang for your buck! I will be rating each foundation in 5 categories then give an over all opinion and rating. I will be rating out of 5 stars, five being the best.

1. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation with SPF 15

Packaging: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
Although the packaging is very modern and simple the container it self is very wasteful. When you unscrew the lid there is just a hole which you must tip the foundation out. I find this annoying, there's been multiple times where I've accidentally poured to much out and have wasted some. That's why I'm not a fan of it.

Price: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
The price of this foundation is between $28-$33 depending on where you purchase it. For the product I think it's a fair price and isn't too expensive, compared to other foundations out there.

Color: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
There are so many options when it comes to finding your perfect shade. I have all the confidence that anyone can find the shade they are looking for in this product. For me being very fair with a yellowish undertone I have a hard time finding the perfect shade but I was able to with this product.

Coverage: ★★★★★ (5/5)
This is the best part of the product, one coat will even out any redness my skin has and will cover any blemishes that I have. It's also great since it has SPF 15.

Lastingness: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
Even though I might get great coverage with this product it doesn't last long. No matter how well I set  or prime this foundation within a few hours I will see lots of creasing. It also rubs off easily around my nose and chin.

Overall: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
This product is really great in some areas, but in others it fails to do it's job. I personally like using this foundation the best in the winter when I want a heavier coverage and look.

2. Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Foundation

Packaging: ★★★★★ (5/5)
In my opinion Make Up For Ever hit the nail on the head when they designed the packaging it's polished professional and convenient. When you pop of the lid there is a pump so you are able to control the amount of foundation you want to use.

Price: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
Price wise this foundation is really pricey. Especially for someone like me who also has to pay for there college tuition. You can buy this foundation for $50, which is a weeks worth of food!

Color: ★★★★★ (5/5)
Just like the MAC foundation there are tons of shades of this foundation, probably even more. I had picked out my shade easily then even went and got tested and I had chose correctly! I have no doubt you'll find your shade with this product.

Coverage: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
This product is one that I like to use the term build-able to describe. Depending on your skin type you may be able to get away with one coat of this but I find for the best coverage I have to use at least two coats.

Lastingness: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
This is why I bought this foundation is because it last fairly long. If I use a primer then set with a translucent powder in the morning I know I won't have to worry about touching it up unless I'm going out in the evening.

Overall: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Even though price wise it's very high, the saying you pay for what you get really applies to this product. I find when my skin is fairly clear I can get away with one coat of this foundation in the summertime which is prime for having a natural flawless summer look.

AND THE WINNER IS.....

MAKE UP FOR EVER HD FOUNDATION!

I had bought this product because I wanted something that with a longer wear and a less heavy coverage and that's exactly what I got with this foundation. Although you'll be paying a lot more for it you are paying for something that is very high quality and also is awesome for taking selfies. It says right on the packaging its "designed for the new needs of high definition image" for creating a natural looking makeup finish. Having oily skin this product really works for me and I think it would work well for all skin types!
